This Privacy Policy explains how Gather Desk (“Gather Desk,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), operated by an individual developer, handles information when you use the Gather Desk iOS application and related services.
1. What Gather Desk does
Gather Desk is an AI-powered knowledge and productivity application. It lets you ask questions, work with text you provide or scan, choose from available AI models, and use focused assistants such as Study Plan, Trip Planner, Fitness Plan, Chef, and Gift Ideas.
2. Information we process
Content you provide
Depending on the features you use, we may process:
- prompts, questions, messages, and other text you enter;
- text, documents, images, or other material you choose to upload or submit;
- text captured or extracted through a scanning feature when you choose to submit it;
- information you voluntarily provide to a focused assistant, such as learning goals, travel preferences, fitness goals, cooking preferences, or gift criteria; and
- conversation context and history needed to continue a previous topic or provide a relevant response.
Please do not submit information that you do not want processed by Gather Desk or by the AI provider used for the selected feature.
App and service information
We may process limited technical and usage information necessary to operate, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the service, such as request timestamps, app version, operating system version, device type, network information, IP address, error information, and the model or feature selected. The exact information available can depend on your device, network, and service configuration.
Support communications
If you contact us, we process the information you include in your message, such as your email address, the description of your issue, screenshots you choose to send, and other information needed to respond.
3. Device permissions
Gather Desk may request access to a protected device resource only when it is needed for a feature you choose to use. For example, a scanning feature may require camera access, and importing content may require you to select a file or photo. iOS controls these permissions, and you can change them in your device settings.
Gather Desk does not require access to precise location, contacts, or cross-app tracking for its core AI functionality unless a future feature clearly asks for such access and explains why it is needed.
4. How we use information
We use information to:
- provide AI responses, summaries, explanations, plans, and other requested features;
- maintain conversation context and history when that feature is enabled;
- route requests to the AI model or assistant you selected;
- operate, secure, maintain, troubleshoot, and improve Gather Desk;
- prevent abuse, fraud, or misuse of the service;
- respond to support and privacy requests; and
- comply with applicable legal obligations.
5. Third-party AI providers and your consent
Gather Desk is an AI aggregator and may make different AI models available. To generate a response, the app may need to transmit information to the third-party AI service associated with the model or feature you select. The applicable AI provider or providers are identified in the consent flow or related in-app disclosure before the relevant transfer takes place.
Information sent to an AI provider may include the prompt or message you submit, relevant conversation context, selected or uploaded content needed to answer the request, and limited technical information required to process and secure the request. We limit the data sent to what is reasonably necessary for the requested feature.
By granting consent in the app, you authorize the disclosed transfer for the purposes explained there. You may withdraw your consent at any time by discontinuing the affected AI features and contacting us at [email protected]. Withdrawal does not affect processing that occurred before the withdrawal. If consent is withdrawn, features that require third-party AI processing may no longer function.
We require third parties that process user data on our behalf to protect that data at a level consistent with this Privacy Policy and applicable requirements. We do not authorize third-party AI providers to use your information for cross-app advertising or behavioral tracking on our behalf.
6. Other service providers
We may use infrastructure, hosting, security, storage, and other technical service providers to operate Gather Desk. These providers may process information only as necessary to provide their services to us, subject to contractual and legal safeguards where required.
7. Software libraries used in the iOS app
The iOS application uses software libraries including IQKeyboardManager/IQKeyboard, OverlayContainer, SnapKit, ChatLayout, and Alamofire. These libraries support interface layout, keyboard behavior, chat presentation, and networking. We do not use these libraries as advertising networks or as cross-app tracking services. Alamofire is a networking library used to transmit requests to destinations configured by Gather Desk; it does not independently decide how your information is used.
8. AI output and sensitive information
Information you voluntarily include in a prompt may contain personal or sensitive information. For example, a Fitness Plan request may include fitness goals or other health-related details. Gather Desk does not need you to provide sensitive information unless it is relevant to the request you choose to make. Avoid sharing highly sensitive information unless it is necessary and you are comfortable having it processed as described in this Policy.
9. Data retention and deletion
Conversation history may be retained so that you can return to previous topics and continue a conversation. We retain personal data only for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the service, maintain security, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.
You may request deletion of your personal data or stored conversation data by emailing [email protected] with the subject “Gather Desk Data Deletion Request.” We may need to verify the request before completing it. Certain limited records may be retained when required by law, for security and fraud prevention, or to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.
Third-party providers may have their own limited retention periods for data processed on our behalf. Where we control provider settings, we aim to use configurations appropriate for API/service processing rather than advertising or cross-app tracking.
10. Security
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards designed to protect information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. No online system can be guaranteed to be completely secure, so we cannot promise absolute security.
11. International data transfers
Gather Desk and its service providers may process information in countries other than the country where you live. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers and require service providers to handle information in accordance with applicable privacy and data-protection requirements.
12. Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding your personal data, including rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, or objection to certain processing, and to withdraw consent. You may exercise a privacy right by contacting [email protected]. You may also have the right to complain to your local data-protection authority.
13. Children
Gather Desk is not intended to knowingly collect personal information from children below the minimum age permitted to use such online services in their jurisdiction without the consent or authorization required by law. If you believe a child has provided personal information in violation of applicable law, contact us so we can review and, where appropriate, delete it.
14. No sale of personal data
We do not sell personal data. We do not use personal data for cross-app behavioral advertising or tracking on behalf of advertisers.
15. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as Gather Desk evolves or as legal requirements change. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date and provide additional notice where required.
